School wrapped up in early June and Abbie and Noah, as all kids are, were glad it was over. They really enjoyed the year here in Mt Pleasant. The school was awesome and both excelled given what Katie and I believe was a more accelerated curriculum. Both brought home straight A's and Abbie got to experience EOG tests which they start in 2nd grade here. She was a trooper scoring in the 90th percentile in most of here subjects. We are so proud they are doing great.
Our trip back to NC over Memorial day was great. It was a nice long weekend at our "old house". The weather didn't cooperate too much for us to be able to get in the water but we managed to make the best of it. I planned a work trip for the second week of June and they spent the whole week there with both weekends too. They had a blast. The second weekend was the first water ski tournament at Clear Lake. Abbie and Noah skied great and Ella even wanted to go home Saturday evening and ski at the house. We obliged her and played till dark on the lake.
The next weekend we hauled the family to Florence for another ski tournament. Our friend Buzz Rogers has a private lake there and each year puts on a Junior tournament for
Planning a trip back to NC over the 4th. I have taken off the week after the 4th and we are going to be enjoying the week on the lake. This is the week before the NC State Waterski Championships. We are hosting them at our home site. Should be a blast getting the whole lake to ourselves that week. We are also giving Noah an early birthday party on July 7th. Needless to say he is excited!
We hate we are going to miss the 4th of July fireworks show here in Charleston. I can't imagine what it will be like. Over Memorial day it was like a war zone here. There are fireworks stands on every corner and with the legality of the "good ones" every one takes advantage of the ability to have their own show. We are planning on bringing a few back with us to NC. We will have a show of our own off the dock. Will be exciting I am sure.
Last bit of news is that we are preparing to move Katie and the kids back to NC at the end of July. Our temp housing here is running out and we hate to start the kids back in school to have to move them again. We have decided to start them back in NC. Our business at work is tough right now and their is a lot of uncertainty there. The marine industry is approaching 70% unemployment. That's hard to believe but there aren't many people building boats right now. We are going to struggle through the last part of the summer apart like we were last year and see how it goes. There will be more to come on this I can assure you.
Enough for now. I have posted a few pictures in our Picasa web album. Click on the link/picture below to view.
